Sawadii ka from Thailand

Hello!!
We've been living in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan for 3 weeks now and are loving the craziness of life. We have experienced so much~ chicken feet curry, feeding an elephant on the side of the road, sleeping in a bamboo hut on the Burmese/Thai border in the home for students for Karen refugees, we have met so many amazing and courageous people and learning that road rules are non existent!!
We have visited both homes for students (BPDN 1&2) and tomorrow will head out to BPDN 1 to do an English camp that happens once a month. Khaila and I are doing a group on animals which will be fun but interesting as our Thai is quite minimal.
Our tutoring is going well, the kids we are with are amazing and really on top of what they are doing. We are really enjoying being a part of their family and getting to know them on a more personal level.
It has been such an awesome experience for us so far and we will keep you up to date in the months to come!
Until later..

Goodbye Oz, Hello Thailand!

Today is the day! It is amazing how quickly time has snuck up on us. We are all packed and counting down the hours before we put rubber to pavement and begin our little adventure. We have been so touched by all the love and support that we've received since we started out, especially by people that we haven't known for long or only have casual relationships and yet they have gotten behind us and been a huge support. It is so wonderful to know that we are being thought of during this time by all our amazing family and friends! It still seems quite surreal that in under 24hrs we'll be in Bangkok via Brunei. Thailand is such an amazing country, with so much culture and we can't wait to jump in and experience life in this beautiful place!!

So we'll be in touch soon with our first tastes of thailand Xo

Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand

And so it begins... As per all good plans we are now headed in a completely new direction- Asia! Don't worry, Europe is still in the cards for the near future. We are so excited to at the opportunity that has come our way. We have been offered the chance to move to Thailand and work along side an amazing ministry called Connect3e which works with the Burmese Karen people that have been displaced from Burma. Please check out the website www.connect3e.org

We will be based in Prachuap Khiri Khan which is about 281 kms south of Bangkok. In 2004, I (Chantelle) visited a forbidden kingdom known as Burma or Myanmar. It is a deeply oppressed nation that has been cut off from the western world. Since WW11 the karen people have been experiencing genocide from the Burmese militants. Many escape to the Thai jungles where they have nothing but the clothes on their backs. They can't return to their homeland but have nothing to start a new life with in Thailand either. I was deeply moved by my experience there and am completely touched to finally be working alongside these amazing people.
So we are currently in the throws of orgainising, in our own completely disorganised way, visas, plane fares, and raising funds so that we can start out on our adventure..
khaila and I mutually decided that we should be smart travellers and learn a few phrases in the Thai language before we start out. We can now officially ask where the toilet is? and, if we are eating dog?
Until later..

Stepping out..

So, as we start out on our new adventure we are excited to see what the future holds for us. Are we starting on an adventure of 'Self-discovery' or 'Self-indulgence' or maybe just a little of both? Who knows! What we do know is that in a few months we will be on a journey that will take us to Barcelona and the rest of the world is an open doorway that we will step into as the moment presents itself. We are in love with the idea that you all can take this journey with us- May it be one that will be full of new experiences, smiles, hidden treasures and many precious memories!
Until next time..
